Hello, fellow human being and organic intelligence! I am an oddball currently employed as a software development engineer for Disney under the new Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology segment. I became interested in computers and programming well before graduating high school as valedictorian, and I have worked in the industry since graduating Purdue University in 2009 with a computer engineering degree. Originally from the midwest, I put myself through college with academic scholarships and personal income. One of my favorite things is figuring out what needs to be done and doing it. I do my best to gain a working understanding of the project I am part of, to take initiative, to take ownership of my work, and to make those around me feel appreciated. I'm not afraid to ask questions, but at the same time I am good at taking direction. Overall, there's nothing better to me than understanding a new system or solving a problem, especially when I feel like I am making a difference. One of my favorite career experiences was working on SaaS for a small spin-off company, helping low-income people connect to supplemental benefits. My primary expertise revolves around back-end programming in Java, however I've dabbled in many roles and languages, from process controls to databases to user interfaces, and of course, object-oriented programming. At times, I've also briefly stepped into installation and quality assurance roles, depending on the need. I've worked for large companies and small, and I've worked solo and on teams. I thoroughly enjoy diving into learning new tools and languages and have done so for every position I've held. I have built applications from scratch, I have worked on already-established projects, and I have done a lot of testing and debugging. Looking forward, I would like to expand my experience in pretty much any way that can aid me on my quest as a full stack developer, however my long-term interests definitely lie in architecture, design, and deep learning. Let's program the matrix for altruistic purposes albeit maybe very very carefully and openly. ;)
