As Director, Ergonomic Initiatives at Teknion Limited, Canada’s largest corporate office furniture manufacturer, a Board Certified Professional Ergonomist, Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist, and one who understands ergonomic principles, I ensure that Teknion’s new products are easy to use and perform as intended. Simply put I take the elusive construct of ‘comfort’ and drive it into the engineering world to create user focused products. I have an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University and a Masters of Human Kinetics from the University of Windsor, where I specialized in ergonomics.In 2009, I joined Teknion as Senior Product Manager for Height-Adjustable Tables. Currently, I lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, designers, external consultants and others. I direct all ergonomic initiatives in corporate marketing and new product development, and manage all height-adjustable table and ergonomic accessory product design and development for the Complements accessories program on a global scale. Livello, hiSpace, MAST, Tiers, Height-Adjustable Bench the Livello and Complements counterbalance mechanisms, various task lights including our award winning Sanna lighting collection in partnership with Pablo Designs, CPU holders, and electrical and wire management initiatives have come to market under my oversight. I also created Teknion FitTM, a user-focused planning method that demystifies office ergonomics and assists designers and specifiers in integrating ergonomic principles into their office space designs. In addition, I have guided the design of Award Winning product interfacing Apps that create a user centered interaction between the end user and their office environment.Additionally, I have overseen six privately funded research initiatives that support undergraduate, graduate and PhD candidates in ergonomics-related disciplines at Canadian universities.
