The Community Social Entrepreneurship Project (C-SEP) is my initiative with a key aim of establishing sustainable ideas and programs which aim at improving the living conditions and the finances of the youth in deprived/remote communities as a way of tackling the social determinants of health. ​Under this project, I identify feasible vocational and technical enterprises and matching rural communities. I set up week long training workshops on acquiring the technical skills for the trade/enterprise and the business knowledge. My main activities included: leading fundraising campaigns to generate enough funding to run the project all year round; maintaining and monitoring project plans, schedules, budgets, and oversaw procurement activity; counselling participants and challenged them to complete training programs.

• Managed and analyzed epidemiological data sets of over 30,000 people living with HIV in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands of Spain utilizing statistical packages such as STATA, SPSS, R, and ATLAS. • Oversaw all studies in the area of HIV comorbidities and co-infections in the prospective PISCIS cohort methods including survival analysis, Cox regressions, linear and logistic regressions, case-control studies, confounding control, competing risk analysis, propensity score matching methods, and multivariable regression. • Coordinate all the activities of the Gilead-funded COVIHVAC SARS-CoV-2 vaccine effectiveness study, the TV3 Marathon-funded COREDVAC-HIV studies accessing the long-term impact of COVID-19 and vaccination in Catalonia, and collaborate with the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) to generate evidence with real-world data.• Drafted grant proposals, develop CRF/eCRF, study protocols, and provide statistical support to the data management team.

Leading the consultation on assessing the risk of re-establishment of malaria transmission in Spain involving the MESA Alliance, Global Malaria Program at the WHO, and the Barcelona Institute of Global Health (ISGlobal).

The HBV-COMSAVA project uses point-of-care diagnostics in community settings to identify and link to care West African migrants infected with the hepatitis B virus (HBV). My role in this project is to: • Engage migrant community leaders and organize sites for the project.• Deliver interactive talks on Hepatitis B virus to migrants in native languages.• Link Hepatitis B-positive participants to care and follow-up on their treatment.• Collect blood samples through dried blood spot (DBS) and realize rapid tests for the detection of HbsAg.• Coordinate all activities of the WAM-COVID cohort assessing COVID-19 exposure,infection, and immunity among West African migrants in Catalonia and comparingwith a cohort of indigenous Spanish participants.

• Collaborate to achieve consensus on internationally recognized standards and technical specifications in healthcare organization management. • Provide technical guidance on standard healthcare data management and implementation of EHR in health facilities. • Actively participated in the development of the ISO standard on Healthcare Organization Management • Liaison with other global health experts to make recommendations to strengthen health systems.

My research interest was to understand the burden of SARS-CoV-2 infection among persons living with HIV and specifically to understand the impact of CD4 cell count and viral suppression on the clinical outcomes of COVID-19 in this population. As part of my work, I:• Designed and conducted research activities in the PISCIS cohort of HIV-positive patients, and analyzed results for data publication in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals.• Presented complex clinical findings to diverse audiences at scientific meetings, workshops, and international conferences.• Collaborated with international researchers through the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) to advance the science of public health through real-world observational healthcare data.• Provided support to PIs and project managers in the preparation of grant proposals, study protocols, informed consent forms, and database management.

I closely worked with Dr Pascal Launois and Dr Mahnaz Vahedi of the WHO/TDR, (the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases) to monitor the scientific careers of WHO/TDR fellows who mainly work in diseases of poverty in low- and middle-income countries. As part of my work, I:• Performed bibliometric analysis to evaluate the research impact of former WHO-TDR grantees and trainees from low- and middle-income countries.• Created and managed a database to gather and streamline information about current roles and projects of former grantees. • Assisted with the preparation and launching of surveys targeted at evaluating the impact of WHO-TDR training programs. • Analyzed preliminary data using EndNote and Excel and presented findings in PowerPoint during bi-monthly meetings.

In this role I was committed to grounding my research and data analysis skills. I benefited from training from Professor Judith Garcia-Aymerich, who is the Head of the Non-Communicable Diseases program at ISGlobal and her team. During this role, I:• Assisted the Principal Investigator and other staff in the preparation of new study protocols, amendments, and preliminary analysis of ongoing studies. • Conducted literature reviews on chronic diseases and associated determinants.• Assisted in updating data management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.

• Initiated and coordinated the planning, provision of clinical services, and health promotion for a special clinic on hypertension, diabetes, HIV, and stroke care. • Developed a patient-feedback model where patients are phoned three days after visits to follow up on the care received.• Trained 13 patients as peer navigators to deliver regular health promotional activities on a healthy lifestyle and perform home visits to elderly patients.• Assisted the implementation of EHR in the facility and guided the data integrity during extraction, processing, and analysis.

A part of the organising committee for the first ever YLH Social Entrepreneurship Challenge on eHealth. I upgraded and managed the web page making it more user friendly and attractive; responded timely to all emails from 138 applicants and communicated via email about changes in schedules and the progress in the planning of the challenge.
