As a researcher, I have authored 18 high-impact and peer reviewed publications in various fields including tribology, sensors, electrodes, carbon materials, filters, separators and batteries.I work with a variety of international and regional researchers and collaborators. Alberta Innovates is my primary sponsor where we work together to convert waste materials (lignin and asphaltene) into value-added materials for the Alberta economy. Lignin research is conducted with West Fraser, and asphaltene research is conducted with Suncor. I work with international collaborators in Egypt, China and Korea primarily focussed on the development of novel materials for environmental sensors, detecting pipeline leaks, and determining security risks through detecting chemical warfare agents.Within my lab, I previously acted as a laboratory manager in charge of inventory management, waste disposal, developing standard operating procedures and managing lab safety.
