About Danny Boyle

I have recently became available for new work opportunities. I am interested in securing a career focused job with a continued personal development opportunities. In my role with James Strang Ltd I worked as an assistant site manager on projects from £30,000 - £300,000 ensuring all aspects of the works on site were going as plan and recording these where required. The types of work I have been involved in varied dramatically from installation of services on site – foul + storm water drainage and manholes, security fencing, security turnstiles, construction of dog kennels and installation of an industrial flooring system, small tar works, concrete repairs and my last job breaking out and replacing 2500m2 of defective concrete slab in Aberdeen and replacing like for like using an early high strength concrete + 900m2 of tar works. My main duties consisted of but where not limited to keeping accurate costs, arranging materials and plant, arranging subcontractors, liaising with main contractors, setting out, Quality checking of works, re-measuring of works complete, ensuring all paperwork is up to date ( Rams + permits to work+ toolbox talks). Due to the nature of some works Security clearances where required and I was given the task of checking applications, submitting them and updating senior management on progress. Prior to JSL I had been working with Dunne Construction Ltd I filled the role of site engineer setting out the day to day works on site and ensuring all permits to dig + hot works where issued as required. My main duties were setting out structural elements , all services for the building, checking quality taking concrete cubes and checking reinforcement off against reinforcement drawings and daily update of works on site. I am hard-working, very reliable and keen to develop my skills and career within a Civil Engineering company.

  • Mcdonald'S Restaurants Ltd
    Crew Member
    Mcdonald'S Restaurants Ltd Oct 2007 - Jun 2015
I have not had the opportunity to gain much experience in civil engineering except for a college trip. My class was taken to England to take part in a scheme called Constructionarium, where we were given the task of managing and constructing a scaled-down version of an oil rig. Once this was finished, we then had to float the completed structure out of a dry dock and into a man made lake, to be sunk onto flat surface created by us. I feel this was a very helpful exercise, improving both teamwork and leadership skills I also had the experience of helping my father set out two sites and position houses on them prior to construction. In addition to this I also helped construct an upstairs conversion on the family bungalow.
  • Tough Construction Ltd
    Trainee Civil Engineer
Tough Construction Ltd Apr 2013 - Sep 2013

At Tough Construction a lot of the information and skills I learned at Stow College were put into practice, this comprised primarily of surveying , setting out roads and buildings, designing and set out pathways, retaining walls, bulk earth removal, ground improvement, drainage, mine shaft capping and reading detailed plans. I also took on additional responsibilities on site such as attending site meetings in place of my supervising engineer. During these meetings we discussed any on site issues and I utilized my problem solving abilities to determine a suitable course of action. I then relayed this information to my supervising engineer and together we discussed my suggested solutions. My time with Tough Construction was very demanding having as we had 5 sites to manage which required flexibility in our working hours to ensure all deadlines were met.
