Originally from Utrecht, Holland, Danny Kaljee's love for food and dining started with an after-school job in a small family owned restaurant at the age of fifteen. After leaving school, he started to work for Cunard cruise ships, where he learnt the fundamental disciplines of fine dining, food and wine, combined to his passion of traveling and exploring the world. In 2005, Danny moved to London where he joined the Gordon Ramsay Group, working as a restaurant manager for Marcus Wareing at The Savoy Grill, acclaimed 1 Michelin star restaurant, known for its tradition of service excellence. Danny's creative eye for detail and superior business skills enabled him to launch Maze Grill, under the helm of Jason Atherton. Maze Grill is inspired on New York’s grill restaurants, offering a wide selection of breeds and cuts of beef cooked over coal, as well as plates to share. Since then, Danny has managed a three-level private restaurant, bar and members club at the top of The Gherkin, one of London’s most unique and prestigious landmarks. Events overseen by Danny include dinner in honor of the Queen Elizabeth, BMW i8 launch, private dinners for top brands like Patek Philippe and renowned personalities like Bill Gates and Tony Blair, among others. He is also the founder-director of thewineclub.co, a digital platform that offers a service where people can enjoy the expertise of a sommelier, not just when they are in a restaurant, but whenever they choose to buy wine. Having relocated to Sao Paulo with his family in 2014, Danny's taking his career a step further, founding Dine Consultancy, a specialist restaurant consultancy.
