“Once you learn to read (and write), you will be forever free.” Frederick Douglass’ words are my North Star: I live for literacy. Working side by side with hundreds of students and teachers throughout the last decade, I witnessed the transformative impact of strong literacy instruction. From middle school to graduate school classrooms, I’ve instructed hundreds of students and teachers on how to think, read, and write because I believe literacy is the single most important tool we can pass onto future generations. I have a proven track record of developing rigorous curriculum and cultivating first-in-class educators leading to stronger student outcomes (on paper and in practice).
