Serious And Organised Crime - Intelligence Unit

I lead a specialist team, overseeing intelligence management. I have developed resilient relationships with intelligence partners, supporting sensitive sources and environments whilst managing differences in culture and working practices to pursue positive outcomes. This often requires exceptional diplomacy to ensure all parties work towards the same overarching aim of robust management of complex and varied risk. Within this is a highly challenging role, I deliver exceptional risk management, balancing the robust safeguarding of assets alongside the serious requirement to gain and utilise intelligence that may have potential impact on public safety. I ensure strict compliance with all legal and ethical requirements whilst liberating intelligence that actively contributes to the direction and tactics of security operations.

Criminal Investigation Department And Community Safety Unit

I led a team of detectives investigating crime across a busy and challenging London borough. I ensured resilient initial planning and strategy setting and drove the appropriate pursuit of lines of enquiry, completion of case papers and presentation of evidence at crown court. Taking overall charge of the most serious and complex cases, I also held overview of a significant caseload; ensuring prioritisation of deadlines and objectives. Responding to required austerity measures, I secured the best use of resources and exceptional service delivery. I drove the productivity of my team, focusing on the most serious cases and instilling a flexible, intelligence led, response to risk. I consistently promoted and led on robust team training and professional development in investigative techniques and disclosure skills. During this time, I led a significant budgetary and staff review, successfully delivering an amalgamation of investigative services, improving resourcing and personnel provision.

Operational Policing

I was responsible for the management of immediate response to critical incidents and the delivery of a wide range of operational activities. This role required a considered approach, often under pressure of time and tight budgetary constraints. I demonstrated an ability to manage a diversity of issues, to influence widely and to process information quickly and accurately.

Gun Crime Unit

I led a team within this complex area of policing. This role required a sensitive and highly organised approach as an investigator, particularly demanding was the tenacity and determination needed to secure intelligence and statements from often, understandably, reluctant witnesses. I worked both covertly and overtly, managing highly sensitive sources of intelligence, investigating and subsequently presenting evidence in crown court. I managed complex investigations within tight time lines and, reflecting current austerity measures, under strict financial constraints.

Intelligence Unit

I was tasked with the handling of intelligence sources to secure a robust challenge to organised crime across London. Responding to the most serious violence, including firearm use and drug offending, I drove the effective coordination of intelligence to support proactive operations. I worked successfully with key partners to support the management of sensitive sources whilst remaining cognisant of differences in culture and working practices; consistently demonstrating diplomacy to secure the overarching aim of robust management of complex and varied risk.

Sapphire Command

Within a specialist team, I was tasked with the investigation of the most serious sexual offences. I led complex investigations, demonstrating understanding of all legal requirements of case management and disclosure and providing the most thorough and organised approach to all investigations.

London

Beginning my service as a constable, I moved through a foundation of training and development. I worked within a response team; a demanding role requiring fast response to critical incidents and operational requirements. I was selected to transfer to detective duties having demonstrated an intelligent and competent eye for detail, enquiry and observation. I worked within various highly sensitive units, including the investigation and detection of domestic abuse, safeguarding and within proactive vice investigations. The need for a thoughtful yet tenacious approach was paramount, to balancing the need to secure convictions and also support, often vulnerable, victims.
