Who am I?Welcome to my profile! My name is Dan Block and as the Senior Concrete Estimator for Limoges Concrete Inc, I’ve devoted my career to helping my former employer become the largest, most successful concrete construction company in Sioux Falls.While at Limoges, I spent the last 20+ years creating preconstruction estimates for large-scale commercial, industrial, and parking structure projects. We specialized in commercial concrete footing, foundations, and floors exterior flatwork. My reputation is unmatched when it comes to the delivery of predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers. I work with architects, and engineers to establish a vision and department roadmap by thoroughly understanding the both the customer’s as well as our needs. I am fluent in reading plans/drawings/standards and documents and frequently asked to contribute to the design and value engineering of large, complex projects. What do I do?I am active in my community and work to identify and develop relationships with strategic targets to generate new business opportunities. I identify and evaluate new markets and partnership opportunities through direct prospecting, networking, and attendance at industry and professional events. I am a savvy negotiator when it comes to contracts with owners and external vendors and am more than proficient in various estimating software, including those used for digital quantity take-off, pricing, and bid invitations. My expertise lies in the collection and analysis of data that impacts cost of labor, materials, supplies, and equipment maximizing quality and accuracy of bids. I review and compile “take-off” quantities, existing cost history, and calculations to ensure accuracy.I also analyze the competition and communicate with owners, subcontractors, and public and private entities to ensure competitiveness.
