I investigate Administrative Violations of the Federal Meat, Poultry and Egg Products Inspection Acts, I conduct Comprehensive and/or Targeted Food Safety Assessments (FSAs) at Federal Meat and/or Poultry Plants. I conduct Meat, Poultry and/or Egg Product Food Recall activities, I investigate consumer complaints of USDA Inspected Meat, Poultry and/or Egg Products and other related investigatory activities as necessary. I conduct Routine Listeria monocytogenes Verification Testing or Intensified Verification Testing as required at Federal Meat and/or Poultry plants as part of these Food Safety Assessments (FSAs). As part of the Food Safety Assessment process I make various recommendations based on my analysis of their food safety programs. These FSAs can lead to no further action, issuance of Non-compliance Records, A Notice of Intended Enforcement and up to Suspension. I am utilized and have provided training to new EIAOs on their duties and responsibilities.

I was a working Supervisor in the largest USDA Compliance Office in the US. I directed the activities of other Compliance Officers in conducting criminal and civil investigations of firms that allegedly had violated the Federal Meat, Poultry and Egg Products Inspection Acts. I trained these investigators in their jobs, I led investigations in complex cases resulting in several criminal and civil prosecutions in both the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York that resulted in several individuals being sent to jail and both them and their firms being fined. I also had a criminal case that was prosecuted by New York City District Attorneys office that resulted in several individual being sent to jail on various fraud charges and paying heavy fines. I conducted Food recall activities, Consumer Complaints, investigated and documented administrative cases against Federal Meat, Poultry and/or Egg Product Plants under USDA Inspection. Conducted surveillance activities as directed, presented cases to Assistant US Attorneys for prosecution, testified in court, served subpoenas etc and other related duties.

I was the Inspector-In-Charge of a four Meat and Poultry plant patrol assignment. I inspected facilities for sanitary and physical maintenance. I observed production practices to insure meat/poultry products were handled in a hygienic and sanitary manner, that products were accurately/properly labeled, stored and shipped. I trained other Processing Inspectors in their jobs. I conducted export functions and other duties as required.

On line poultry slaughter Inspector in several New Line Speed (NELs) and Streamline Inspection System (SIS) Poultry Slaughter Plants in Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Used my extensive formal and hands on training gained in the USAF as a Veterinary/Environmental Health Specialist which included slaughter, animal anatomy, physiology, pathology, epidemiology and zoology courses as well as other food science related courses in becoming an effective on line poultry slaughter inspector. Was recognized for my excellent inspection skills by receiving superior job performance ratings and being promoted from GS 5 trainee to GS 7 and then being selected for promotion from GS 7 - Poultry Slaughter to GS 8/9- Food Inspector Processed Products/Inspector-In-Charge. Was utilized to train new slaughter inspectors in recognizing various pathologies in chickens and proper disposition - condemnation of unfit carcasses/parts or sending for rework. Also was effective when working off line in conducting Pre-operational and Operational Sanitation Inspections and conducting other off line duties which included conducting water pick-up tests, AQL tests of carcasses/parts, observing sanitary product handling in reprocessing/cut-up and pack out operations at these slaughter plants. Also was effective in recognizing structural deficiencies at these plants and making appropriate recommendations for repair/renovations etc. Was effective in communicating with management of these plants in obtaining compliance with applicable regulations and the law in protecting the consuming public.

Extensive experience as a Food Inspector, public health sanitarian, occupational medicine, communicable disease, vector borne disease control and other related duties on the various bases I was stationed at. Managed and supervised these programs. Trained Vet. Specialist/Environmental Health Specialist in the performance of their duties. Recognized for my Outstanding Supervisory and Management skills by the Air Force Management Inspection team, receiving Outstanding Ratings on my Airman Performance Reports and for my other contributions by receiving numerous letters and certificates of appreciation and merit. Received several cash awards for suggestions I made through the Air Force Suggestion and Method Improvement programs that resulted in significant monetary savings. Additional duties included Medical Readiness Training Instructor taught battlefield medicine/first aid, called buddy care, to non doctoral/medical specialist personnel within Eglin Regional Hospital/Hurlburt Medical Clinic on a quarterly basis. Was Non-commissioned Officer In Charge of base's decontamination team at Eglin Regional/Hurlburt Field dealing with decontamination of food supplies and patients after a nuclear, biological and/or chemical attack. Taught foodborne disease investigation and follow-up to Hospital ER, Primary care and flight medicine staffs at Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field. Developed and taught foodhandler, bartender/waitress/child care attendant training classes on a routine basis such as pre-employment, within 90 days of being hired and annual refresher training.
