Oversee large and small scale experiments in geophysics and atmospheric science. Lead teams of scientists developing innovative solutions for the remote sensing of natural and anthropogenic hazards. Perform experiment design, execution, data analysis, and publication. Present at national and international conferences.

I use low frequency sounds to monitor natural and anthropogenic activity, examine the state of the atmosphere, and develop new methods for planetary geophysics.

Led the 2014 and 2015 North Carolina High Altitude Student Platform (HASP) stratospheric infrasound project.Organized and managed the geophysical data acquisition portion of the University at Buffalo Eclipse Geohazards Field Station blast series in 2013 and 2014. Developed and maintained the rNOMADS (access near real time and archived ocean and weather model outputs) and rFDSN (access seismic/infrasonic data) software packages for the R programming language. Continued to maintain the hht (Hilbert-Huang transform methods) package for R.Participated in seismic station retrieval from a deployment on Llaima Volcano, Chile.Published 2 papers as lead author.Delivered 2 oral and 4 poster presentations at conferences. One of these oral presentations was an invited talk.Co-chaired the special session "Near-Field Seismoacoustics of Natural and Man Made Explosions" at the 2014 Seismological Society of America meeting.Mentored undergraduate students, organized and delivered lectures on linear regression and the Fourier transform, and maintained the laboratory equipment and computers.

Developed and maintained the hht software package for the R programming language. This code base built upon the preexisting EMD software package to provide improved time and spectral analysis methods related to the HIlbert-Huang transform. Prepared seismic data for submission to the IRIS Data Management Center.Participated in infrasound data collection at Santiaguito volcano, Guatemala.Published 1 paper as lead author.Delivered 1 poster and 1 oral presentation at conferences. Won an Outstanding Student Presentation award for the oral presentation.Co-chaired the special session "New Frontiers in Seismic Data Analysis" at the 2013 Seismological Society of America meeting.

Oversaw the installation and implementation of a permanganate injection system to remediate chlorinated solvents in groundwater. Injected over 40,000 gallons of oxidizer into the subsurface through a total of 48 injection wells.Supervised the installation of a soil vapor extraction system in an abandoned industrial facility.Led groundwater sampling activities, executed groundwater and free phase product monitoring, andparticipated in the delineation of a subsurface coal tar deposit at a former coal gasification plant.Developed a 3-D finite difference groundwater model of a contaminated site in the Boston metro area, including an animation of remediation activities’ effects on the presence of fuel oil in the subsurface.Acted as consultant in the implementation of a company-wide data management system.

Participated in field surveys of abandoned uranium mines in New Mexico. Surveyed mine features and radiation levels, obtained access agreements, planned field work activities, and produced final reports.Coauthored a report on the mineral resources and reasonably foreseeable development of central New Mexico on behalf of the Bureau of Land Management. Collected data from literature and onlinedatabases, interviewed key personnel, and developed an innovative data analysis system to summarize the mineral resources of central New Mexico.Developed a database in Microsoft Access to rapidly import, store, and display fluid level data and lab analysis results from environmental studies

Taught English, mathematics, and science to Korean kindergarteners in a total English Language immersion environment.Taught English to Korean elementary students as part of an after-school program.Developed curricula and homework assignments and maintained company computers.

Taught English as a Second Language to Korean high school students.Participated in design of and teaching at English Camps for Korean elementary, middle, and high school students.

Developed and maintained a database in Microsoft Access to assist E-Z Masonry in reaching customer service, site preparation, and revenue tracking goals. Maintained company companies and printers.Facilitated E-Z Masonry's presence on the Internet.Served as office manager and first contact for customers, contractors, and other E-Z Masonry employees.

Compiled, analyzed, and located earthquakes recorded at Deception Island, Antarctica, during the 2005 field season.Developed innovative computer algorithms in the MATLAB scientific computation package.Published results from this work as first author in a peer-reviewed journal.

Assisted Admission Possible staff in administering office tasks and creating materials to further their goals of increasing low-income students' admission to college.Worked at Admission Possible from October 2005-May 2006, and again from January 2007 to May 2007.

Implemented a grid search algorithm to precisely locate earthquakes recorded on an undersea seismic network located on the Endeavour Segment of the Juan de Fuca Ridge. These locations helped delineate subsurface convection cells beneath active hydrothermal vents as well as the depth to a local magma chamber. I presented my work in a poster at the 2005 American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting.
