Carbon Analyst, Environmental Writer And Climate Action Consultant
CurrentI carry out carbon footprinting and climate action advisory work, mainly for development charities and the culture sector. I am currently the lead external carbon analyst for Christian Aid, CAFOD, Concern and Trócaire and have worked closely with Oxfam, ActionAid and many other organisations, large and small. I am the environmental advisor to the Galleries Climate Coalition and helped develop their online carbon calculator, the latest version of which launched in September 2024.I am a freelance environmental journalist and author. My first book, "The No-Nonsense Guide to Climate Change", is published by New Internationalist (NI); my second book "The No-Nonsense Guide to Renewable Energy" was published in September 2015, and both are available as ebook and paperback. I am a frequent contributor and guest editor of New Internationalist Magazine, and edit their regular "Temperature Check" section on climate issues. I also reported for NI at the Paris climate talks in 2015.I write and perform environmental performance poetry, and run eco-poetry workshops for schools, conferences, and away days. I am a past winner of the Oxford Hammer & Tongue annual poetry slam, was a semi-finalist in the BBC Radio 4 Poetry Slam, and performed my solo stage show "Arrest That Poet!" at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Oxford Playhouse and other venues.
