From school through to 2006, I worked at Odeon Cinemas progressing part time into full time.During this period we saw some iconic releases such as Harry Potter and of course not to forget the amazing Jessica Alba's Into The Blue.Sadly employment came to an end when Odeon York closed its doors for ever, but in the final 2 years I was able to manage all areas of the cinemas day to day running, (minus projector specialisation) these skills included but not limited to:• Opening shifts; these shifts included the responsibility of setting up daily stock for the start of day before the doors opened.• Closing shifts; these shifts included the responsibility of not only cashing up the daily till and operating the end of day takings computer finance software, but also the responsibility (often sole responsibility) of closing the building and checking for fire hazards and ensuring fire exits were secured.• Everything in between; being fully trained in all areas from ticket sales and food sales, stock management and stock checking, cleaning a screen to ensure it was fit for the next viewing.Importantly, the above included being trained in various disciplines such as fire safety, basic medical training and CPR training and food hygiene standards.
