My name is Danny Pearson and I have been the Labor Member for the State Seat of Essendon since 2014, and I am currently the Assistant Treasurer of Victoria, and Minister for Transport Infrastructure, The Suburban Rail Loop and WorkSafe & the TAC. In June 2020 I was sworn in as the Assistant Treasurer, Minister for Government Services and Minister for Regulatory Reform in the Andrews Labor Government. In September 2020, I was honoured to also become the Minister for Creative Industries. I held the Creative Industries portfolio until June 2022. I was the Acting Minister for Police and Emergency Services with responsbility for Hotel Quarantine from February 2021 until September 2021. In June 2022 I was honoured to add Minister for Housing to my responsibilities.In December 2022 I ceased to be the Minister for Housing and was appointed the Minister for WorkSafe and the TAC as well as the Minister for Consumer Affairs. In September 2023 I ceased to be the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Government Services and took up my current role as Minister for Transport Infrastructure and Minister for The Suburban Rail Loop.My interest in politics was inspired by my family. My grandmother’s family lost everything in the Great Depression and she endured a life of hardship. For my grandmother, the Australian Labor Party was the only institution that truly protected working people.I became involved in politics because I believe that Government can profoundly improve the lives of its citizens – to implement policies that enable every member of our community to achieve their full potential. That’s why I stood for Parliament in 2014 and then again in 2018 - because I want to play a part in creating a fairer, more just and decent society for us and for future generations.Prior to being elected to Parliament, I had a long career with Public Affairs firm Hawker Britton. My key areas of interest are economics, digital transformation, trade, investment and innovation.
