Upon returning to the UK and while looking for more long-term career opportunities, I used my recent hospitality experience while working within the world of hosteling in Canada to secure a job working for the Youth Hosteling Association in Central London. This gave me an opportunity to earn, while training and exploring future possibilities, without the pressure of needing to rush into something to secure an income. Assisting the Housekeeping Supervisor with running operations around the HI Banff Alpine Centre hostel. Responsibilities included staff scheduling, stock purchasing and inventory, quality control, communicating with guests and decision-making with regards to hiring and firing staff or volunteers. Initially hired as a housekeeper but quickly promoted into this role.

Working in the Data Collection & Licensing team to ensure authenticity within the game. Short contract included a high turnover of information in daily/weekly targets. Required high level of research skills and knowledge, as well as strong communication skills to clearly deliver instructions to artists and translate information from football leagues and clubs around the world.

Managed over 100 staff per night in the design and execution of evening activities for up to 400 children between 8 and 16 years old.54 nights (including live music, performance, sports, trivia nights and two large-scale "haunted trails") successfully completed over 9 weeks, with around half of those split into two distinct events based on age.Time management was key in this role as every day I would need to know which staff were available and where their skills would be best suited, generate ideas for how to execute each night based on the "theme" for that specific week, formulate the design of the space and props to be used that evening and then making sure the event was running smoothly each night.As this was my second season working at Pali, I was able to extend my abilities to build rapport with children and other staff alike and add people management to my communications skill set.

After a sabbatical for travel, I returned to Mott MacDonald and expanded my role within the Visualisation Team into photography and video production services. On top of the work creating verified still images, video productions, photomontages, 3D animations and post-production work to assist projects around the world for corporate or public consultation purposes, I was responsible for championing a video production facility for creating internal communications for the company. Due to successfully opening up communications with the central marketing team and company directors, our team replaced the need for hiring external video services.I also expanded my knowledge in using Adobe Illustrator with the creation of an Emergency Evacuation Plan for the Thameslink Project. My work in communicating complex instructions into limited graphic design space was commended at the submission of the project.

Pali Overnight Adventures is a "stay-over" camp for children aged 8-16, based in the San Bernardino National Park, South California. Of the 17 specialties offered at the camp, I worked within the Film Institute. During each week long session, I would lead a group of children through the process of making a film, from writing a script and casting actors, through the filming and editing process to screening their films at a showcase on each Friday night. We gave the kids hands on experience of using the latest video and sound recording technology and equipment and we edited using Final Cut Pro. Outside of my Film Counsellor duties, I also supervised the children in various outdoor activities, such as paintball, riflery, motor sports and ropes courses and in cabin as a stay over counsellor.
