About Danny Whatmough

A new breed of comms professional. With a background in digital and data, I've spent thelast fifteen years integrating these disciplines with traditional PR skills working in the PR industry.I'm author of a newly published book - Digital PR (Emerald Publishing, 2018) - that advocates fora new approach to PR in the digital age. I'm currently Agency Co-Managing Director at Red Consultancy.Previous to this I was Managing Director, EVP, Integrated Media for Weber Shandwick - one of the world's largest communication agencies. At Weber I led an integrated team covering media relations, social, influencer marketing, paid media and search. I also run integrated client business for some of the world's largest brands including HSBC, Motorola, Unilever, Nestle (Nespresso, Purina), Pernod Ricard, Coty, Vauxhall, Wickes, Ocado and the Mayor of London. Previous to this I headed up social and digital for Ketchum's Proctor & Gamble business - covering 14 different P&G brands including Head & Shoulders, Olay, Max Factor, Braun, Pantene, Fairy and Wella. I chair the PRCA's Digital Group, am a member of the PRCA Council and sit on the AMEC social media measurement committee. I play an active role in the wider PR industry and I'm a regular speaker, commentator and blogger on digital PR and the future of the industry.
