Optical work was included in this internship which included counsel/instruction, fitting and ordering lenses and frames. In particular, the VA patient base provided exceptional experience in vision care of a senior population as well as retinal disease - diabetes, macular degeneration, retinal and vitreal detachment, etc. Weekly seminars were held by the attending doctors and fellow interns on topics ranging from diagnosis of ocular disease to grand rounds.
