This site provided unique experience in the medical model / pre-op and post-op cataract care under Dr. Manning, MD and Dr. Hiss, MD as well as dry eye diagnosis and management under Dr. Doug Devries, OD.

Patient care, providing exams for the assessment and management of refractive error, disease, and the visual system. Optical work was included in this internship which included counsel/instruction, fitting and ordering lenses and frames. In particular, the VA patient base provided exceptional experience in vision care of a senior population as well as retinal disease - diabetes, macular degeneration, retinal and vitreal detachment, etc. Weekly seminars were held by the attending doctors and fellow interns on topics ranging from diagnosis of ocular disease to grand rounds.
