About Dan O'Brien

I started in media while still in school as an Assistant Director for the Midwest Program of Airborne Television Instruction [MPATI], that created hundreds of hours of in-classroom instructional television programs. I also worked at various Detroit-area radio stations while also producing and directing as series of 90-minute live television dramas for local Educational TV.At WDCA-TV in Washington, D.C. I produced and directed hundreds of programs ranging from Romper Room to Washington Redskins Football and various news and documentaries. I won two local Emmy and two local Addy Awards and served two terms as President of the D.C. Chapter of NATAS as well as the Awards Committee of the Washington Ad Club.I founded General Pictures Corporation which arranged funding for feature motion pictures.In 1980, I was Station Manager of KCPQ-TV13 in the Seattle/Tacoma market. Two years later, I was brought on board by King Broadcasting Company in Seattle as Manager of New Business Development. Among other projects, I produced a variety of music video projects for MTV and home video distribution. I was then hired as General Manager of yet another independent TV startup, KONG-TV16 in Seattle.I then moved to Los Angeles to develop a news satellite channel for the Food Business Network.I then moved to Denver, Colorado to work as Program Director with KTVD-TV20 which had just gone on the air.Two years later, I went to work in the legal department of Starz/Encore dealing exhibition contracts, talent agreements, location shooting licenses and copyright issues.I got my undergraduate degree from the University of Detroit, a MBA from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and a Law Degree from the University of Denver. I am an attorney licensed in Colorado, a licensed managing real estate broker in the state as well as a licensed real estate salesperson in Hawaii. I live with my wife, Glendine, in Aurora, Colorado.Specialties: Marketing, writing, producing, directing, editing, intellectual property management, associated legal affairs.
