Spotlight Performance is a technology and performance improvement firm. Our flagship product is an online coaching tool designed to help anyone use video to train, practice and prepare for professional interactions. I have responsibility to lead technical advancement of the product to exceed customer expectations and to lead the product into future versions. In a short amount of time I restructured the back-end architecture in order to make daily operations more cost-effective while also positioning the product for rapid or incremental growth. I also removed single points of failure, initiated better project management practices and instituted an Agile development model. A major Drupal upgrade which had been in process for far too long became an immediate top priority and it was successfully completed early 2016. I have been able to utilize a great many of my skills and abilities in a short amount of time. Being a small firm, I am able to wear many hats and work hands on alongside the developers in order to get things done quickly and accurately.

Led an additional team tasked with consolidation of numerous legacy and disconnected internal systems for customer support into one online global tool.Responsible for consolidation of legacy products into new, redundant technologies that provided our customers with better service and few customer service engagements. Created new applications to make internal departments more efficient. Provided business intelligence products to executive team for analysis and vision casting. Pioneered offshore development opportunities to expand development presence and provide more rapid deployments. Built a new department for web development from 1 to 40+ team members.

Brought in by the CTO of an entirely new senior management team with the goal of turning around a floundering company. All software and systems were redesigned from the ground up. Web interfaces were re-tooled and re-designed from scratch. Worked closely with new data partners to integrate complex tour and travel reservation systems into a state-of-the-art consumer interface for searching for and booking travel deals on short notice.Assisted with corporate turnaround after buy out. Led development team through complete product overhaul and re-launch including successful data center move. Created real-time analytics system for executive management decision process. Successfully managed numerous upgrades, software rollouts and datacenter transitions within maintenance windows. Company was successfully acquired in 2004.

Joined WebMD as part of the 4-way merger with Healtheon, Medcast and MediAmerica in 1999. Served as interim CTO for East Coast operations. Responsible for managing WebMD’s news publishing software development team including a diverse group of engineers, project managers, QA technicians, database and systems administrators. Managed teams in Atlanta and Santa Clara, CA. Helped maintain consistent development activities during many corporate changes, mergers and acquisitions. Led Product and Program Management, Quality Assurance, Database Administration and Software Engineering for the company’s publishing software.

Managed all daily operations of this boutique software development group. Recognized and acquired by WebMD in 1999. Responsible for some of the company’s top clients including Mastercraft Boats, Home & Garden Television and the Metallica Fan Club. Each client project consisted of developing a broad array of solutions to meet their software and web-based needs.Wrote custom software to transfer online orders to custom back-office systems. Maintained FoxPro databases for multiple customers. Built and maintained corporate websites for HGTV, Mastercraft Boats, Metallica, American Bus Association, to name a few. Was responsible for managing a small team of web developers, designers and software developers.

Responsible for line mechanic duties, 50 and 100-hour inspections and routine maintenance on the company’s fleet of single and twin-engine Cessna aircraft. Supervised several shop assistants. Also performed all maintenance duties on the inventory computer system. Other shop-related duties as needed.

Responsible for maintaining plant-wide database of engineering issues required to be resolved before plant operational status granted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Created a defect report which became the standard throughout the plant engineers which highlighted the remaining defects and resulted in the plant (20+ years under construction) being given the greenlight for operation in late 1995. I left when all non-operational staff were no longer required.
