With an annual production of 27,000 tons, it was one of the world's largest aluminum producers. Its huge facilities included four hydroelectric power plants based on two dams and a thermal power plant. The whole production was controlled by a UNIVAC 1172 mainframe made operational in the mid-1970s.My passion for nascent computer science drove me to the IT Department of this Company, where in 1984 I took on the technical responsibility of the Data Centre based on a mainframe UNIVAC 1172 and a geographical terminal network based on DCP 40 processor.
