As an experienced, independent thought leader, I support technical and commercial operation strategies by working to overcome major barriers to improve or transform outcomes for patients. Helping to scale solutions to meet patient demand, bring therapies closer to patients, working on ways to increase patient access, and coordinating the connection between patients, clinicians, payers and treatment sites to support each patient’s journey. Having previously worked in various industries, I was drawn to healthcare by the impact technology is having to solve complex system issues. Great effort is being required to gain the commitment of patients, clinicians, regulators and payers to accept or approve these changes.Navigating the Intersection of Design and Healthcare: A Journey of Discovery.I began my career as an industrial designer. I absolutely loved the idea of being a pluralist, creating physical products for various categories that were beautiful, smart, pleasurable, and experiential for everyone using them. Around 2010, several market trends were emerging, reflecting a broader societal shift towards technology innovation, digital integration, personalization, and a greater emphasis on user experience. These trends had a profound impact on what designers were being asked to design and how we were designing them. Almost every market segment I was designing for, including healthcare, was changing. Technology has and continues to disrupt healthcare products, flows, processes, procedures, and people.At the heart of most healthcare problems is human behavior, and design is uniquely qualified to approach healthcare issues because design is the interface between technology and human behavior. Recognizing this was a pivoting point for me, it allowed me to take my skills as an industrial designer and use them to solve more complex problems, specifically in healthcare. Today, as a healthcare leader, I look to develop and commercialize products, processes, and services that are smart, thoughtful, and understanding of the unique challenges patients experience as people. I've held consulting and corporate roles, driving success through user-centered design and product development, working across commercial, technical operations, and customer-facing functions.
