TLDR: "A techie with a head for business"I started my career as a developer working primarily in Java and later Go and Python ecosystems amongst others. I'm adaptable, and over the years I've filled a lot of gaps in teams picking up experience in other areas such as ops with tooling such as docker, terraform, kubernetes, and using lots of cloud products from AWS and GCP. I'm comfortable leading teams, and I started and ran my own outsourcing dev business for almost 10 years, which introduced me to everything from hr to finance. Much of my career has involved working in various realms of Intellectual Property, including patent renewals, portfolio cost forecasting, copyright protection, and music licensing. I've worked for everything from startups to large enterprises.These days my focus is on technology leadership: my goto role would be 'CTO', and I'm as comfortable in an exec meeting discussing financial reports, as I am with a development team discussing implementation details. I'm keen to see real value being delivered from a technology team, leveraging strategy, culture and organisation to maximise their impact.
