About Daniel Pollak

My goal is to get as much hospital experience as possible on the way toward getting a BS in Nursing. I enjoyed being a part of and managing professional teams doing technology support, network administration, consulting and project planning. I plan to return to school for an MSN after I have had the opportunity to develop my nursing skills and decide where I want to specialize. For now, my interests center around emergency medicine and psychiatric nursing. My background working in diverse U.S. cities at diverse types of organizations gives me the flexibility to handle many types of challenges. I especially enjoy collaborating in fast paced mission critical departments. I was awarded Nursing Excellence awards in 2024 from the San Francisco VA Hospital and VISN 21 (the region).Specialties: Working well with tight constraints, managing teams of employees and volunteers, supporting corporate mergers, coordinating between technical and business teams, developing customer confidence in my team's work, stewardship and perseverance. I also enjoy working with patients that most people find challenging.

    Us
I worked in a nursing assistant role at an emergency Covid-19 hospital. Since this work was near the Mexican boarder, about 30% of my patients only spoke Spanish. I worked 12 hours a day providing patient care for about 18 days. Since it was an emergency hospital, we were also responsible for custodial and other duties. This was a great way to learn how to work in a clinical environment as well as learning to work in austere conditions. We used paper records, and we often had to figure out safe and reasonable solutions without having the best tool for the job. I deployed to assist with medical support for the firefighters at the Dixie Fire Camp. I helped triage patients, performed Covid tests, provided medical & personal care supplies and assisted with patient care.
