I lead the Business Internal Tools team, with a broad scope ranging from maintaining a large legacy Ruby monolith, to building Go microservices responsible for user lifecycle management. One keystone project I led was the effort to make our services highly available and redundant against a data center outage.Prior to leading my current team, I led the design and creation of a new staging environment. This was a major company-wide initiative which required coordinating with dozens of other engineers to document and deploy over 50 services, many of which were poorly understood.I also served as a member of the Architecture Working Group, helping to lead the engineering organization toward more robust, maintainable, and secure systems.

One of the services I provide as a consultant is the design and creation of custom API-backed websites. Much of my work involves implementing PCI-compliant ecommerce sites. Another service I enjoy providing is auditing existing software and providing analyses with a focus on security, stability, and value.More broadly, I also advise small companies and individuals on strategies for meeting their technology needs, including both hardware and software.

I architected and built the core services that power Restaurants Plus. I designed and implemented the PCI-compliant system for handling credit cards and transactions at LivingSocial's large scale. The core systems are reliable, performant, well-architected, and extensible.Prior to leading the Restaurants Plus team, I worked on a number of services at LivingSocial, writing Ruby, Scala, and Javascript to provide services to tens of millions of users.I enjoy writing new, greenfield applications as well as maintaining legacy code.Pairing and collaborating with the large, distributed, highly-skilled LivingSocial engineering team has been a major part of my work.
