I also just finished two years of service as Chair of the National Science Board (NSB), which provides oversight for the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and science and technology advice to the White House and Congress.I previously served as Utah's Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (aka Provost). I work on science and technology policy, with particular emphasis on high-performance computing, big data, and edge networks. (NSB, which) establishes the policies of NSF, identifying issues that are critical to NSF's future, approves NSF's strategic budget directions and the annual budget submission to the Office of Management and Budget, and approves new major programs and awards.
