Nolwazi is an online content management system filled with thousands of open educational digital content pieces. It is sold on a user licensing basis and also offered around the country as an offline solution, stored locally on touch screen kiosks and servers.We have implemented this solution in almost every province in South Africa, from private schools to mud schools and libraries in the middle of the Eastern Cape. I've worked with providers in the areas as well as other IT companies to roll out tablets and cheap smart phones to provide more connectivity. I believe strongly in mobile learning due to the fast rising prevalence of smart phones in South Africa.

Working in the public sector, Breadbin Interactive specialises in the sourcing and delivery of any type of digital content via the internet to touch screen kiosks, PC's, laptops and smart phones. Through the Nolwazi project we are contributing towards the mapping and distribution of Open Educational Resources (OER) for Schools, Colleges and Universities to enable everybody in South Africa access to the content they need to learn.As a director of a small company I oversaw every department. I was also responsible for engaging with all our suppliers to get the best rates for our hardware solutions, project manage our solutions from sales to training of the system once rolled out.I worked very closely with the developers to ensure that we had the most user friendly system that we could. I helped run the company, the software products and HR. Umoya Software (Pty) Ltd. had its beginnings in Umoya Networks (Pty) Ltd., a licensed I-ECNS (Independent Electronic Communications Network Service) Provider. The decision to form Umoya Software was taken in order to focus attention on its growing software development business and in December 2010 it was constituted as a separate company with its own board. We built, maintained and supported various software products, notably a disaster management system that was implemented by the South African government and used during the 2010 football world cup as well as customized disaster management systems used by centers across the country.Most of my time at Umoya Software involved me working with the customers and developers ensuring that the software was developed to spec; sales of the various software systems, creation of user manuals; training of users on the systems.
