Dan Roman is an IT professional, entrepreneur, executive and investor with focus on Central European markets, Western Balkans and Black Sea Region.Throughout his professional career, he has successfully led and inspired teams from diverse cultural backgrounds, transforming them into high-performing entities. He has been and continues to be a proponent of efficient, agile management, consistently aligned with modern technological advancements.Roman is consistently focused on the evolution of emerging technologies and their impact on society and business environment.He holds a PhD in Computer Science (1981) and graduated from the Politehnica University of Bucharest (UPB), Romania.He was among the first IT professionals in Romania to introduce Computer-Aided Design (CAD) & Computer Graphics as research fields, leading to the development & export of software packages to many countries. He also has encouraging and established in 1984 an AI & Speech Recognition Lab together with experts from UPB.Concerned with the need to educate young generations in IT, Roman initiated the first Sports & Computers camps.In 1990, Roman founded one of Romania's first private IT companies, Romanian Business Systems (RBS), which became an IBM Alliance Company and market leader, and then IBM Romania. Roman become the first Country General Manager of IBM Romania and then Director of Operations for IBM CER in Vienna, overseeing the partner network in non-subsidiary countries and laid the groundwork for establishing the local IBM subsidiaries.In 2000 Roman has set up his own company in Austria, eNet Data Ltd, sold to S&T an Austrian public listed company. As Senior VP & General Manager Region South, he has contributed significantly to the expansion of S&T in new territories in SEE.Roman has established in 2011 Kapsch BusinessCom Romania today named CANCOM.Roman served as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Romania. He served as a diplomat, Counselor and Secretary, of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Romania.Roman has awarded with the Order of the Star of Romania with the rank of Knight for the entire scientific & research activity, for the special contribution to the development and promotion of information & communication technology in Romania.He received Order Pro Merito Melitensi Crucem & Pro Merito Melitensi Crucem Officialis awarded to recipients who have brought honour to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, promoted Christian values and for charity.He was granted awards from various publications & media groups.
