Oral cancer survivor with over thirty years as a professional engineer — managing projects, programs, and product development. Often all three at one time. I have held senior-level positions for the last 20 years, and I the founder of Product Development at D Squared. We are all good at something. I am an excellent engineer with highly developed organizational leadership skills, and I’ve been fortunate to have had a distinguished career in that regard. But I am more than just good at it. I genuinely enjoy it. I enjoy the complex nature of my work, the challenge of being accountable for an array of details, and the deft hand it requires for risk management. I am an outstanding communicator, and that helps cultivate relationships and facilitate dialogue between a wide range of stakeholders. I have found it rewarding to be good at my job. But as I’ve grown in my career, I’ve learned that my hard work isn't enough. Yes, I need to do my part, and I need to have my accomplishments, but that can only take me so far. So, while my skills, abilities, and experiences were and will continue to be instrumental to my accomplishments, I know that real achievements happen while collaborating with great managers, colleagues, and staff.
