I've been running and developing Community, Church, and Social Enterprise Projects in Scotland since 2003. Now, I can help you with yours.I bring a degree of learning from success and failure alike. I have experience in start-up, consolidation, development, funding, property lease, trading, governance, marketing and much more. And if I can't help you specifically, I can call on the services of a range of contacts who share my passion and will help to get you to where you need to be. One key element of my support is to understand, and help you stick to, the reason WHY your project or organisation exists. Leading the redevelopment of the Greyfriars Charteris Centre (the former Kirk o’ Field Church) in The Pleasance, Edinburgh as part of the mission outreach of Greyfriars Kirk. It's a Centre for Community, creating connections and opportunities for local people with a focus on Wellbeing and Enterprise. My job is to plan and source what is needed (working with specialists as required) to redesign the existing building in order to suit the needs of local charities, the community and the spiritual life of the city and university. The building boasts 3 great venues at present, accommodating up to 200, 100 and 80 people respectively. It also has a meeting room for up to 20 people, and some serviced office space. Supporting in helping drive forward the business of this successful Social Enterprise by securing and delivering new contracts and sponsorships via its business services, projects and training academy offering whilst maintaining positive relationships with existing clients. I will also play a key role in developing, managing and delivering agreed growth strategy of the business.

Tayport

I was involved in developing plans for a multi million pound Community Hub including a range of Sports, Arts, Community, Business and Tourism activities. The main work focussed on securing the necessary permissions and funding to enable this project to happen.

East Scotland

Supporting, monitoring and developing existing Charity Shops and Furniture Projects around the East Scotland division of The Salvation Army, and working with local centres to set up new projects of a similar nature that would grow to support various mission activities.

With a wide range of experience, I gave my time, knowledge and vision to assist various organisations at whatever stage their Social Enterprise was at. Whether just at the ideas stage; progressing the business plan; ready to start; having difficulties with an established enterprise; or looking to take their enterprise to the next level; I was able to provide help. I ended this consultancy to focus on regular income for a while in order to support my family. However, I am still open for adhoc consultancy work on a small scale.

A Fife charity ReUse and Recycling Social Enterprise specialising in Furniture, Electrical and Household Items. Its mission is "Helping Furnish the People of Fife". I spent my time developing the organisation from a low point to being on a steady footing to move forwards.

I quietly ran a consultancy for ReUse projects and assisted a number of projects around the UK, mainly within The Salvation Army. I wrote a guide to setting up and running a ReUse project (which is still available today!) and enjoyed imparting my learning onto others.

I was at this project from when it began. I enjoyed being able to help develop this project to be the success it was as an award winning project in Scotland and the UK as a whole. But importantly, I was able to help individuals move on in their lives from homelessness or other social situations.
