Property and Asset Management CompanyResponsible for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of monthly financial reports, creating and maintaining policies and procedures for accounting records, mitigating risk, and improving the accuracy of the reported financial results in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards. Led an accounting team of fourteen to complete the full accounting cycle for 98 multi-family communities in 22 states. Part of the team that helped grow the portfolio from 3,000 units to over 15,000 units. Lead on the transition of accounting records from third-party management to Peak Living’s management and ERP system. Manage the banking relationship and treasury process for over 200 accounts. Manage the relationship with auditors and tax prepares to ensure a productive and positive working relationship.

Property and Asset Management CompanyResponsibilities at Cottonwood were similar to Peak Living in many ways. Led an accounting team that grew to thirteen members and led the full accounting cycle for 132 multi-family communities consisting of over 35,000 units in 28 states at its highest point. Other responsibilities were to report KPI analytics for company leaders and equity stakeholders, lead and review annual federal and state tax reporting for portfolio entities, and be the liaison with external auditors for financial statement and regulatory audits. Worked closely and collaboratively across all divisions of the company: Executive Leaders, Property Management, Asset Management, Investor Relations, Finance, Legal, Acquisitions, Risk Management, Human Resources, Construction, Business Development, IT, and Human Resources.

CFO, Accounting, and Finance Consulting FirmPrimary responsibilities consisted of analyzing and creating business and financial models for clients undergoing efforts to raise capital. Other responsibilities included leading and preparing revenue forecasts and operational budgets, prepare comprehensive monthly financial variance reporting packets, supervise client’s finance and accounting teams, and advise clients on best practices and policy implementation.

International Oil & Gas CompanyLed an accounting team of four and the accounting for $60,000,000 capital project for oil refinery located in Vernal, Utah. Implemented the accounting and financial reporting systems and internal controls for the company and led the financial reporting and consolidation of six subsidiaries into parent holding company. Led relationship with external auditors and prepared annual financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures in accordance with GAAP and IFRS. Notable accomplishments were saving the company approximately $200,000 in general and administrative expenses by training colleagues on backlog management and reporting systems. Was able to reduce the time spent to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycle by 50%. Also successfully negotiated a $350,000 and $100,000 property tax savings with Utah tax commission (2010 & 2009, respectively). Successfully prepared corporate business plan and financial model valuing the company at over $1 billion and independently reviewed.
