In the after hours, all reservations are made through the dispatch center; therefore I am tasked with obtaining and processing the information behind booking limousine transportation. The financial duties are similar to that of a “night auditor” in that they involve auditing trip records and preparing them for final billing. Show less -

My particular position had the added twist of also being responsible for the complex compliance with State and Local regulations governing Emergency Medical Services, as well as the management of human resources and corporate compliance. As this was a new company, the owner and I began by establishing detailed goals and parameters to judge how efficiently and effectively the organization is operating. Then I was tasked with reviewing and evaluating business procedures ranging from expenses to customer satisfaction, and comparing them against these goals. I was constantly evaluating the operation in order to find ways to both improve the efficiency and grow. Finally I was in charge of all aspects of personnel management from scheduling to recruitment, as well as discipline. Even though the position was short lived, I built the Human Resources and Corporate Compliance system for this company from the ground up. Our biggest and most involved client had a multitude of requirements for staff working at their location, and using file sharing programs (Dropbox) I designed a system that made all staff documentation easily accessible at any time to all officers of the organization. Additionally, working with volunteer Ambulance service’s officers and staff honed my customer service skills as well as gave me an opportunity to both mentor their staff lending them the benefit of my experience in EMS as well as train and evaluate new members and assure that they were fit to serve the public. Along with the teaching aspect of this position, the evaluation of students classroom and skills performance offering constructive criticism played a key role in the development of new EMS professionals. Primarily I delivered instruction both on site at Bridgeport Hospital’s Emergency Care Institute or off-site in a community outreach basis delivering mostly American Heart Association based courses. For all forms of instruction I evaluated student performance, provided feedback, and developed learner remediation plans. For all of the roles I also performed all of the administrative requirements of a teaching position, i.e. calculation and submission of grades, maintaining student/participant records, and preparation and submission of data and reports. After achieving the status of Training Center Faculty I trained, mentored, and evaluated new instructors to insure the proper delivery of all AHA educational material. Show less -

I was promoted to Field Training Officer, then to Training Director where I developed and implemented a education programs. Additionally I served as a shift supervisor, managing the operations of 10 ambulances in an Union workplace.Being Training Officer gave me the opportunity to create an in house and public training program from the ground up. During my tenure, I developed a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program in conjunction with Western Connecticut Health Network offering monthly CMEs to services in the region an alternative to the opportunities available at the hospital. Using the experience gained while at Bridgeport Hospital, I was able to implement an EMT refresher program offering providers a low cost option to meet the refresher requirements to maintain EMT certification. As an added bonus, using the revenue generated by the refresher program, I was able to offer the refresher training to Danbury Ambulance employees at next to no cost.Another accomplishment that I was proud of at drew from my business development background. Using my relationship with Bridgeport Hospital, both as a provider who had worked with them for many years and as an employee, I was able to negotiate with their discharge planning department a position in the Ambulance service rotation for handling pre-scheduled and non-emergent Ambulance transportation for the Hospital. This represented a tremendous revenue generating opportunity for Danbury Ambulance, and put the company in a position to nearly double their business. Show less -

The STAT Team was originally dedicated to Neonate Transportation, but branched out to include all types of Critical Care patients. As a requirement of my assignment, I completed the Westchester Medical Center's NICU skills and competency orientation. Being a part of the STAT Team’s Mobile ICU both honed my skills and knowledge of critical care medicine, introduced me to a “sicker” population of patients, and expanded my knowledge and experience with medications and treatment modalities. While I had some previous experience with transport ventilators, my time and training with the STAT team maximized my comfort level and expanded my knowledge of this critical treatment tool. While previous positions lacked hands on experience with a transport Neonate Isolette as transports in previous positions had a Hospital staff member operating the tool, here I was offered the training in how to operate one and given plenty of chance to do so. Working with other care providers from the hospital gave me invaluable insight into different care practices as well as into the continuum of care. One of the more interesting aspects of my tenure with the STAT team was that part of TransCare’s commitment to quality patient care was letting members of the STAT team fill open shifts on contracts serving the local 911 systems. Where the calls were more intense for the STAT team, they were fewer and far between, so this time in the 911 system helped keep my ALS skills proficient as well as giving the excitement that brought me to the field of EMS. For someone starting off in the Commercial Ambulance business, or for anyone looking to gain experience in the healthcare field this time in my career couldn’t be matched. In all three roles that I served in at American Medical Response of Fairfield County, my primary responsibilities were to provide out of hospital assessment and care based on guidelines learned in training as well as state and local protocols. Then I was responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of the patient to an appropriate facility for definitive care. Finally I was charged with creating a patient care report; documenting the assessments, medical care given, and obtaining insurance and payment information for the care and transportation rendered. As I grew into the role of one of the more experienced Paramedics, I was charged with mentoring Paramedic Students from the Hospital’s training program as well as new employees. This change kept me more active in the 911 system, and allowed Paramedic students to practice their skills in a free but safe environment. Mentoring also forced me to evaluate and improve my own practice of medicine and the duality of having to both manage the emergency scene and the student honed my skills at multi-tasking. As a whole I am grateful to my experience working for AMR for teaching me to complete all aspects of EMS care from treatment, to documentation, to billing in a timely manner as well as forcing me to learn how to think on my feet and make rapid and appropriate decisions.
