Tuscaloosa, Al

As an intern with the Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports Commission, I dealt directly with the sporting events. I was responsible for management of bids for potential sporting events, assisted in writing proposals for grants, and I was a part of the planning and executing of each sporting event that was hosted within Tuscaloosa. The Tuscaloosa Sports Commission hosted many different types of sporting events such as, baseball tournaments, softball tournaments, fishing tournaments, water skiing tournaments, and football championships. The largest event is the AHSAA Super Six Football Championships which are hosted at Bryant-Denny Stadium every other year in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Tuscaloosa Sports Commission is directly responsible for every aspect of this event. I had the privilege of assisting with the planning of the Super Six Championships. It consists of many tedious details, long hours, and hard work. It was my personal favorite event to help plan.

Tuscaloosa, Alabama Area

As an Usher with the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, I had several different responsibilities. Not only would I work the event itself, I would also do event set-up and breakdown. Usually, the set-up would be done several days in advance, as well as the day of the show. After each show would end, I would help with the breakdown of all equipment that was used. During the event itself, I was responsible for crowd management and customer service. I had to learn how to diffuse heated situations in a stern, yet professional way. This position dealt directly with guests and I made sure to do all that I could to make each guest feel welcome. I answered all questions that guests had pertaining to the venue and the event. If I did not know the answer to their question, it was a mission of mine to ask the proper supervisor the answer to the question and relay that answer back to the guest.
