I worked as an Operational Excellence Expert in the Step‑Up project of the rolling mill. The main objective of the project was to improve two KPIs; productivity and yield.Key achievement:Orchestrated a turnaround to productivity that had been declining for several years in the rolling mill. After several changes in processes and working methods, and in addition investing a brownfield projects, productivity increased over 20 %.

Topic of the thesis work was the solubility of chromium into iron silicate slags under nickel flash smelting conditions. The thesis work included experimental research, in which following methods were used: equilibration of the sample in high-temperature furnace, quenching and analyzing (SEM-EDS and EPMA). The results have been published in Canadian Metallurgical Quaterly in April 2016.Thesis was funded by Boliden Harjavalta Oy.Key achievement:Delivered a high quality research for the nickel smelter of Boliden Harjavalta Oy. Results created significant value for the customer's operation strategy to treat and mix complex nickel concentrates. In addition, after the thesis work, I was able to start my professional career.

I worked as a trainee in technical product management under flotation business line. I was responsible for various product development projects, such as standardizing maintenance, commissioning and installation documentation of slurry samplers and analyzers. I also created ValueCalculators which are used to increase and benefit the sales of Outotec's flotation machines' services, maintenance and modernizations. In addition I created customer deliverables, eCatalogues which are used to increase spare part sales of flotation machines, slurry samplers and analyzers. As a highlight I was the operating project manager for Outotec level product improvement project in eCatalogue development.

My work tasks included e.g. maintenance, modernization and installation of bag filter units, cartridge filter units, fans, and large air compressor units. At the office my job description included customer reporting, which contained service reports from the field. I also used ERP system in invoicing, opening service tasks and other necessary things.In addition I was responsible for a new development project where new websites and technical leaflets were updated.
