The Industry Advisory Group is critical in achieving these goals. The Industry Advisory Groups (IAG) are essential in establishing critical external perspectives in relation to FEIT’s vision and initiatives. The IAGs provide advice, feedback and valuable input to FEIT’s Departments/Schools to achieve enduring societal impact.

As the General Manager for Research, Innovation & Commercialisation, I am part of the executive team of South East Water. In addition to overseeing South East Water's prolific R&D activities, I also head up South East Water's commercial arm, iota Services which enables South East Water to deliver impact beyond its regulated boundaries and share its solutions with other utilties in Australia and beyond. South East Water is pioneering the convergence of Internet of Things with Integrated Water Management methodologies to build more sustainable communities.

Independent management consultant engaged in innovation and digital business transformation projects for private sector, academic and government clients. Examples of projects undertaken include:* led a team of experienced innovation strategy consultants to design the blueprint and operating manual for a $300m advanced research program for the Australian Department of Defence* engaged by the CEO of a commercialisation entity of UQ to support the business through a digital transformation of its business model. Specific activities included a business unit review, including recommendations on profitability. Developed a successful case for investment for a digital transformation of the business and a commercialisation plan for research developed by a Cooperative Research Centre* led a team to design an operating model for a Centre of Excellence in Chile owned by an Australian University

One of the six Industry Growth Centres funded by the Commonwealth, METS Ignited is focused on improving collaboration and commercialisation in the $90 bn Australian mining services sector.As CEO, I was responsible for strategy and operational planning, organisational design and recruitment, reporting to the Board of Directors, strategic stakeholder management, budgeting and industry engagement.Achievements included securing over $3m in Commonwealth funding and finalising negotiations with the Queensland government for up to $6m in funding; building the growth centre from scratch to be operational; MOUs with strategic partners including Queensland, CRC ORE and Austmine; leading a project to develop a 10-year strategic plan for the sector; and oversight over design and implementation of a shared IT and web platform on behalf of all Growth Centres.After getting METS Ignited up to an operational phase, I resigned from the CEO position to explore other business opportunities.

Managed Austrade’s largest office in the Americas region including responsibility for additional markets as well as regional functions such as education and marketing. The relationship with Chile is Australia’s most sophisticated with Latin America, and there are over 120 Australian companies with an office or investment in Chile. The role includes high level stakeholder management within Government, including briefing federal Ministers, Ambassadors and high level executives and board directors. The Trade Commissioner is also responsible for budgeting, forecasting, recruitment, reporting, security and governance within strict Commonwealth guidelines.Achievements included:• Oversaw a compound annual growth rate for education enrolments of over 11% in the region • Led the planning and execution of the Australia Chile Economic Leadership Forum in December 2014. The first bilateral event of its kind between Australia and a Latin American country, it featured dignitaries including the President of Chile and an Australian Minister. Notable industry participants included BHP Billiton, Origin Energy and CSIRO.• Led trade development projects to deepen the commercial relationship such as a large delegation of Australian water experts and academics to a regional event as well as over 55 Australian companies participating in the Austrade-organised national pavilion at a mining conference.• As an active board director, strengthened the Australia-Chile Chamber of Commerce. Oversaw a membership increase of over 50% over the three-year period.• Transformed the Santiago office through staffing changes, leadership and closer alignment with the embassy. Also developed new sectors of focus including water and energy as well as assisting CSIRO and University of Queensland establish their first overseas offices.

Daniel represented the Australian Government in Peru including managing the Consulate General. He also had responsibility for the Australian Government’s trade office in Colombia.

Initially recruited to build and lead a team of business development managers to implement the government procurement chapter of the Australia - U.S. F.T.A., Daniel also managed the business development team within Washington DC.

Responsibilities included developing and servicing Australian clients who wanted to enter the US market; monitoring government policy and communicating market trends.

Responsible for product strategy, partnership management, and managed the marketing and product development teams.

Developed and managed relationships with advertising agencies and clients including Intel and Dell to persuade them to include web advertising in their media mix.
