I'm an independent creative designer and training developer who develops e-learning courses for the HR and training departments of for-profit and non-profit organizations. I've worked on courses for educatoin, sales training, software training, product training, ethics training, safety training, sexual harassment training, technical training, compliance training, and soft skills training.To create meaningful learning experiences, I love to use a kind of interactive storytelling, where learners get presented with real-life situations they'll have to face on their jobs. Learners get to make decisions and then see the consequences of those decisions. Occasionally these scenarios might even branch off in different directions based on the choices learners make as they go, just like they do in real life. Besides developing the courses, I have also created and used QA checklists to proof courses for navigation, animation, pacing, audio, transcript, style issues, and overall consistency to produce a high quality finished product. I also participate regularly in e-learning challenges on the E-learning Heroes website and share my work, knowledge, and creative ideas on my E-Learning with Dan blog post. You can view an interactive portfolio of my work at my blog as well.As a musician, I have developed and refined my skills with audio editing at my home recording studio using Cubase SX recording software. I would be happy to use my unique skills in this area to edit sound, add sound effects, or create incidental background music if and when appropriate. My approach with sound is to keep it simple, only using it to enhance the learning experience rather than to detract from it.I work remotely, from the Lowcountry of South Carolina, and I'm always interested in new opportunities to help design and develop training.
