Mapbox's Frontend Platform team solves shared problems so that other teams can build web pages and applications more efficiently, effectively, consistently, and collaboratively. As an engineer on this team, I work across the company to understand the problems our frontend engineers face, then work with them to build solutions, improve existing pipelines, tweak processes, or just put our heads together to troubleshoot a problem. I build shared React components, Node modules, and command line tools; write lots of documentation; and traverse the wide world of AWS services in the Mapbox org. I help sweat the details of Mapbox's frontend, working on tools to manage redirects or improve the ergonomics of interacting with our internal APIs. Perhaps most importantly, the frontend platform team strives to provide resources that help all frontend engineers at Mapbox cultivate the expertise they need to build better web pages, applications, and tools.

As Mapbox's support team manager, my job is to set the stage for the Mapbox support team to help our top-notch customers ship amazing maps and location-based applications. Our support team consists of developers, designers, educators, and writers. We write code examples, publish documentation, provide direct email support, answer questions on StackOverflow, and build small applications to speed up our internal processes. We are knowledgeable about every part of the Mapbox stack and collaborate with teams across timezones to incorporate user feedback and perspectives into our product. We are a natural empaths and problem solvers. We understand both the frustrating feeling of not understanding and the joy of finally getting it. We enjoy sweating the details of technical challenges and applying creative, out-of-the-box solutions to solve problems. I developed a full curriculum for an 8-week introductory course on developing geographic visualizations for the web. Once the curriculum was complete, I served as its first instructor, conducting lectures and hands-on learning sessions and working with students as they learned fundamental frontend web development principles and completed their first ever web mapping projects.
