Daniel Windsor, Ph.D. Email and Phone Number
I am a PhD Candidate at Colorado State University working for Amy Prieto, and am set to graduate in December 2024. My work has been focused on gaining a fundamental understanding of complex systems for beyond Li-ion technology. Broadly, I study the fundamental chemistry of conversion electrodes for sodium-ion batteries. Specifically, I look at how conductive polymer binders as protective coatings impact the fundamental sodium-ion storage chemistry of antimony based anodes. This work required the use of electrochemical characterization techniques like cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic cycling experiments, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). I am also interested in the development and application of 3D batteries, coauthoring a review on this topic for Nature Reviews. The interest in 3D battery systems is in line with the graduate internship I hold with Prieto, a Colorado based start-up pushing to commercialize 3D batteries for myriad of applications. My work for this internship has been focused on materials characterization including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and dynamic light scattering (DLS).
