Directed shutdown of Arizona Device Manufacturing (ADM), the outsourcing of device shield manufacturing, while re-establishing a Manufacturing Technology Development function within CRDM organization. • Completed shutdown of ADM (within 50% of planned project schedule and budget), while locating alternative positions within Medtronic for 100% of impacted employees. • Successfully transferred device shield assembly from ADM to Greatbatch-Tijuana, and shutdown ADM, without impacting product availability at global manufacturing sites.• Recruited/created a team of 25 engineers/technicians moving Manufacturing Development closer to Mechnical Design/Development, while improving partnership with global manufacturing sites, and re-focusing team on technology/process development.

Led 150 employees in areas of production, manufacturing engineering support/development, Tooling/Maintenance, and Packaging/Sterilization for CRDM Therapy Delivery, while directing transfer of new manufacturing processes, technologies, and products to Puerto Rico.• Implemented Final Pack Strategy, reducing number of packaging configurations (by 50%) through implementation of Web based e-manuals, universal symbols labeling, and literature reduction (project resulted in >$1M annual cost reduction in engineering documentation, packaging rework, and product/material inventories).• Implemented Lean Manufacturing resulting in inventory turns increasing by 191% (4.8 turns to 9.2 turns in one year) and less than 48 hour lead times from work order signal to shipment to Distribution Center.• Implemented new Business Process (Technical Review Boards, Mfg Readiness Reviews, Mfg Project Phase Reviews) improving communications between manufacturing sites, standardize work, and improved engineering rigor/execution.

Led transfer of new manufacturing processes/technologies and products to the global manufacturing facilities (located in Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Canada, and China). • Implemented new automated Final Assembly Process into global manufacturing facilities, realizing 2 day manufacturing lead times, while achieving 98% first pass yields and ~25% reduction in direct labor. • Executed shutdown and transfer of Minneapolis manufacturing engineering development to new Arizona Device Manufacturing (ADM) facility, while successfully transferring Mpls product lines to other global sites.
