As a senior consultant, project included the planning, accreditation, funding, implementation and evaluation of professional and continuing educational programs for this specialty hospital, affiliated with the Cornell Weill Medical College. Oversee CME content development, faculty selection and recruitment, marketing, implementation and evaluation process. Develop funding proposals and monitor activity budgets. Achievements to date include: development of a strategic plan to grow the CME enterprise; implementation of a committee leadership process to assure effective institutional oversight of CME and compliance with new ACCME accreditation criteria; institutional alignment of the CME and performance improvement missions to provide outcomes-based educational interventions; initiation of nationally-focused collaborative educational projects with external partners; promotion of integrated educational approaches, i.e., the integration of CME and GME activities, to benefit both faculty physician recertification and resident training needs around the ABMS-IOM-ACGME core competencies, patient safety and quality issues. Recently completed the first ACCME re-accreditation self-survey report since becoming an ACCME provider in 2007.

Scope of work includes, but is not limited to, strategic plans for graduate and continuing medical education services, operations analysis, program development, internal reviews, preparation of ACGME residency accreditation review documents, ACCME compliance audits, funding and grant proposal development, affiliation contracts, educational quality assessments and evaluations.

Directed the graduate medical education (GME) programs for a 700- bed tertiary care hospital with 25 residency programs and over 430 residents. Responsibilities included accreditation oversight (ACGME institutional and program levels), strategic planning, financial management, policy development, residency accreditation reviews, medical school/hospital affiliations, promoting academic standards and resident- faculty professional development. As a senior administrator, other duties included CME oversight, implementation of electronic resident data management system, budget development and management, committee support and supervision of residency program staff. Served as the hospital representative at national associations and accrediting bodies in GME.

Government Relations/Advocacy: Analyzed and communicated legislative and regulatory initiatives regarding hospital and physician payments, fraud and abuse and financing graduate medical education under the Medicare program. Wrote AAMC policy and position statements, letters of comment and draft testimony for the President of the Association. Represented the AAMC on various issue-oriented coalitions, task forces and advisory panels. Worked with coalitions to formulate policy strategies around critical issues. Professional Development/Constituent Services: Developed and implemented national professional development and educational conferences. Designed program content, recruited faculty, arranged meeting logistics. Provided member services to a broad AAMC constituency including medical school deans and teaching hospital executives. Wrote and edited two quarterly management newsletters.
