As an Enterprise Java Architect working with one of the largest logistics companies in the world I have many roles and responsibilities. I am responsible for taking business requirements and turning them into detailed architecture documentation that developers can work from. In many of these cases, it is my responsibility to make architectural decisions weighing the pros/cons of each approach. We work on highly distributed systems that produce or consume millions of transactions per hour using Java, Spring Cloud, Spring Boot, Cloud Foundry, Jenkins, and more. The teams I work with are global, spread across 32+ teams and hundreds of developers. I was the hiring manager for all Java developers at Briebug. It was my responsibility to review and approve resumes early in the hiring process, schedule and perform technical interviews. I am a key contributor to the technical questions we ask and how we evaluate candidates.

Tech Elevator is an intensive educational provider helping individuals and companies acquire in-demand technology skills for the modern workforce. Through our 14-week, full-time, and in-person coding bootcamps, we teach students with a variety of backgrounds to become software developers while helping them build necessary career readiness skills and career connections through our Pathway Program™ to land a meaningful job.I was in charge of creating and updating our entire curriculum for both the students and instructors. This process involved working closely with our instructors to iterate and improve the curriculum after each cohort. I also spent some time teaching Java, Spring Boot & Vue in our classroom.

As a Senior Developer, team lead and mentor to other developers I was in charge of working on the software that ran our 5.3 billion dollar insurance business. I was also heavily involved in moving APIs and applications to a new platform using the cloud, Java, Groovy, and Grails. I also provided technical guidance to new developers through documentation that improved developer onboarding by 40%.

As the lead developer, I was in charge of our corporate website, internal tooling, and customer-facing applications. I was involved in the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) of the projects I worked on. The main project I was in charge of was working closely with the Oracle team on integrating our corporate website with our Oracle eCommerce solution written in Java using single sign-on (SSO).

As a core member of the development team, I was responsible for creating and updating features in our custom CMS application. This application allowed us to build custom solutions for our customers and gave them a place to edit content without having to involve a developer. I was also responsible for researching competitors in our space to determine what new features we would add to our roadmap.

I was the 7th employee in a startup that provided VoIP call center software. I provided support to both our customers and the engineers in our main application that was written in Java. I was able to reduce call volume by more than 50% by providing documentation and screencasts explaining features. I also assisted in updating our corporate website which was created in Struts using HTML/CSS/Java.
