I am a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery (University of Malta) and a psychiatrist working within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Malta, with a special interest in sport psychiatry and sport and exercise psychology. I hold a Masters Degree (MSc) in Psychiatry (Cardiff University) and a Masters Degree (MSc) in Sports and Exercise Psychology (Staffordshire University). I am a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and am currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Sports and Exercise Psychology (Staffordshire University). I have completed Additional Training in Sport Psychiatry with the International Society of Sport Psychiatry, and am a registered sport psychology practitioner with the International Society of Sports Psychology.Experienced with working in social relations, organisational strategy, and social policy, I’m currently serving as Secretary General of the Maltese Branch of The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH-Malta), and Advisor to the President of the Malta Medical Students’ Association (MMSA). In the recent years, I also served as Secretary General of the Malta Association of Psychiatry Trainees (MAPT), Acting Chairman of the Malta Heart Foundation, Alumni Coordinator of the MMSA, and a Mental Health Subcommittee Member within the National Youth Council of Malta (KNŻ).This followed five years of university student activism, including serving as the Education Coordinator within the Executive Board of the University Student Council (KSU), the Student Representative in the Students’ Maintenance Grants Board (SMGB) within the Ministry for Education and Employment, and three years within the Executive Board of the MMSA – President of the MMSA where I spearheaded the association’s biggest structural development to date, and headed the delegation at the General Assembly of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) in Mumbai, India; I also served as Vice President of the MMSA where I founded and chaired the Student Health Subcommittee within the KSU, connecting all student health associations on campus into one subcommittee, and Leisure Officer of the MMSA organising social events for students and alumni. During these student years, I served in multiple other boards and committees, such as the student ACTA subcommittee, and the Drug Policy Reform subcommittee.I am a self-motivated and driven individual with a passion to learn and apply my knowledge into practice.
