Dan performs contract negotiation, administration, and contract portfolio management activities for a wide variety of nonstandard and nonconforming contracts and policy issues, and the most complex contracts for specialized activities and services, including major specialized contracts directly for UT Arlington’s Vice President for Research, and for UT Arlington as requested through the VPR’s Office, and for all departments reporting to Research Administration (Grants and Contracts, Regulatory Services, Office of Technology Management) through Assistant Vice President for Research.This is a new title and added duties from Contract Administrator position, from and after April 2014.As Contract Administrator, Dan negotiates and drafts contracts and other agreements with various agencies (state and federal government, private organizations), and provides guidance and advice regarding technology activities for The University of Texas at Arlington Office of Research Administration, Grant and Contract Services.

Over his career, Dan has proudly and ethically served individuals and startups, privately held and publicly traded businesses, and national and international companies in the millions to billions in gross annual sales, including automotive and beauty and personal care consumer products, medical products, consumer retail and professional distribution companies.Most recently, Dan has been working on various commercial matters since leaving his last in-house position, including providing legal support for trademark clearance and new product development, for closing a $2.5 million land acquisition and construction loan, and for a business entity selection and a buy-sell agreement in a business acquisition.

Dan was part of a multi-instructor team teaching a business course on how to start a business. He lead 2 modules on legal issues, focusing on (1) selected risks involved in business, and some tools and processes to avoid and control risk, such as conducting a feasibility study, and using other risk management strategies and tools, including choosing a business entity form, and using insurance policies and warranties, contracts and contingency planning, and (2) on Federal, State and Local Start-up Requirements, such as filing organizational legal documents, obtaining a federal tax ID number, registering your business name, and buying insurance and obtaining required registrations, licenses and permits.
