Over the last 2 years I have built AI solutions for customer support, operations, and user-facing products, utilizing a blend of cloud and self-hosted transformer and diffusion models, vector storage and evaluation frameworks.As an IC and tech lead I designed and built the APIs, subsystems, evaluation frameworks, libraries, documentation, teams and product features that have defined our efforts to embrace AI. As interim division lead I pitched the CEO and brought in developers from across the company to start delivering on the promise of AI. In October 2023 I brought the team together in Berlin and we put together our first launch.The help chatbot system that we built serves a large percentage of customer support volume, with versioned prompts and dashboards that allow our support teams to directly monitor and improve the system.My most recent focus was to bring AI capabilities WordPress Editor, a complex project that requires deep UI integration and the continuous evaluation of competing strategies for solving customer problems. Concurrently I extracted an open source library called “Big Sky Agents”, an opinionated AI SDK based on core WordPress capabilities and design patterns, which enables us to bring Big Sky’s innovations to every other product. I also wrote a series of blog posts about how to utilize it.
