As its first Executive Director, I built and led the Foundation’s strategy for scaling community safety efforts both as a convener of nationwide collective impact initiatives, and as a grantmaker.Collective Impact LeadershipNational Alliance of Youth Serving Organizations for Child Protection• Convened and facilitated the launch of a new collaborative effort to prevent child sexual abuse across many of the nation's largest youth-serving organizations. • Members collectively serve 20 million+ kids every year, and include Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Salvation Army in the USA, JCC Association, YWCA USA and YMCA of the USA.• Engaged the CDC’s Division of Violence Prevention as a partner in assessing the effectiveness of best practices.YMCA Guardians Against Child Sexual Abuse • Helped develop strategy and local implementation toolkits for a nationwide collaboration—among YMCAs and national child sexual abuse prevention non-profits—which educated over 100,000 adults on preventing sexual abuse.• Designed and launched an annual nationwide awareness building campaign for Child Abuse Prevention Month. • Raised $350,000+ in external grants and provided technical assistance for scaling the effort into new communities. Creating Partnerships to Increase Access to Swim Lessons• Managed a benchmarking effort for swim lesson access programs that generated $750,000 to scale effective programs.• Led an assessment for the USA Swimming Foundation on the academic and developmental benefits of swim lessons.Grantmaking• Redesigned and manage The Redwoods Group Foundation’s grantmaking and evaluation processes.• Increased impact per dollar by 80% in one core program area through deeper analysis of costs across program models.• Grew innovation challenge participation by 195% through targeted promotion to engage new types of organizations.
