I began this journey studying music, and somehow ended up in full-time ministry. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened. Along the way I've given years to the study of music (my B.A. was in Music Education with a minor in Trumpet), and even more years to the study of ministry (5 years of seminary culminating in a Masters in Divinity degree). The pathway hasn't always been straightforward. My music took me from bands to orchestras to a brass quintet, and in spite of all that classical music, I ended up with a love of bluegrass mandolin. My religious pursuits took me from the Fundamentalists to the Wesleyans to the Quakers to the Mennonites, and finally to the Evangelical Covenant Church, which is probably the one place all those different pieces fit together. In the end, the blend of art and intellect serve me well in ministry and in life as I seek to be a shepherd, teacher, leader, and inspire-er. Music has given me a love for working with people in the creation of something beautiful. The Mennonites taught me a thing or two about conflict management. The Fundamentalists instilled in me a passion for the Word of God. The Wesleyans taught me something about living that faith out in the world.Whether through music, preaching, campfire conversations, or articles published in our local paper, I enjoy connecting with people and processing faith with them; ultimately, I am inspired by the fact that, in working together, we can be part of God's plan to see his will done on earth even as it is in Heaven.Oh, and I also love fly fishing. I'm just trying to figure out how to fit that piece in.
