I have been working online since 1998 and covering financial issues since 1995. I am a financial education thought leader, program director, creator, web manager, strategic planner, partnership builder, online public relations professional, writer, and editor. As the associate director of the Office of Customer Education and Outreach at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, I design educational initiatives to help market customers and the general public protect themselves against fraud or other deceptive practices. I regularly speak to investors about fraud risks and fraud avoidance tactics specifically as they apply to digital assets fraud, which includes bitcoin and other virtual currencies, precious metals fraud, and foreign exchange fraud, as well as other derivatives related frauds and crimes. Prior to joining the CFTC, I was the senior content specialist and a founding member of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Office of Financial Education, where I developed, reviewed and directed financial education content and national campaigns for the CFPB. I also served as an associate director in FINRA's Investor Education office, where I created and promoted online information that helped investors, military servicemembers and older investors avoid fraud.My early career was spent working as a journalist, first in print, then online. For eight years I worked on Kiplinger.com, where I served as deputy editor, managing editor and editor.
