Wouldn't it be amazing if children who are removed from their biological parents could be placed with family members instead of placed in foster (stranger) care? Under The Innovative Family Program is the 30 Day to Family program. In my role as a search specialist, I am tasked with identifying at least 80 relatives/kin per case. My objective is to secure a kinship placement with one of the 80 relatives by recognizing and overcoming barriers that may prevent youth from achieving permanency with the chosen relative.

As a Ricoh employee, I worked at Public Company Accounting Oversight Board as an Administrative Assistant to the Associate Director of Facilities. As the administrative assistant, I was responsible for creating and maintaining an employee directory that included name, office location, and division, producing and editing documents, and maintaining the facilities website. I also covered the reception desk, where I issued temporary or visitor badges and answering and directing phone calls.

UNIQUE Learning Center is an after school enrichment program for at-risk youth in the Shaw neighborhood in Washington, DC. I grew up in and graduated from the program. When I was in need of a job, the director, Sherry Woods, allowed me to be an instructor. As an instructor during the summer months, I was responsible for creating and executing lesson plans to enhance math, reading, and science skills in preparation for the upcoming school year. I also chaperoned weekly field trips and a week long overnight camping trip. During the school year, I helped with homework, hosted weekly bookclub and bible study sessions.
