In this position it was my responsibility to lead and manage an aerodynamics team of approximately 20 students to design, manufacture, test and validate an aerodynamics package within 12 months. This role incorporated technical skills with leadership and project management skills in an environment that has tight deadlines and a constant learning curve. Through the implementation of an iterative design process and the use of CFD as the main simulation tool, a package was designed in Solidworks that would meet our performance targets. This was accompanied through material and manufacturing testing to ensure our package would meet our weight and structural targets. Both full car and scale model wind tunnel testing alongside on track testing were completed in order to understand, validate and determine the performance of the aerodynamics package.
