Machine learning algorithms' predictions are often influenced by the biased data they are trained on. As a result, these algorithms may end up perpetuating discrimination, negatively impacting certain racial, gender, or other demographic groups. My research focuses on creating and evaluating algorithms that do not perpetuate biases.

Turning is a magazine set up by students, to inform AI-enthusiasts about recent developments in the field. My responsibilities include:- Contacting possible writers for each edition- Producing content for the magazine or Turning's blog- Promoting the magazine online and by contacting possible buyers

As a teaching assistant I answer subject related questions and provide feedback to the students' homework. Additionally I help the teachers to improve the content/structure of the courses, based on the students' needs. I assisted students during the practicals/working groups of the following courses:- Formal Reasoning (About the basics of logic and theoretical informatics)- Representation & Interaction (About principles of knowledge representation and multi-agent interactions)- Research Methods for Computer Science & Academic Skills 2 for Artificial Intelligence (Both courses deal with the principles of conducting research within the field of Computer Science/AI) - Data Mining

As a studentmentor I organized monthly meetings for a group of 10 first year students. During the meetings we discussed the study progress of each student and topics like time management, planning and study methods.

My responsibility was to test and improve the newly developed "Vowel Space Travel" App. In this app users can play a game, through which they learn to discriminate English vowels (e.g. the vowels in the words 'bed' and 'bad'). After I tested the app on usability and user experience, I implemented additional features in the app.
