Daphne’s research identifies ethical, legal, and social considerations arising from genetics research and clinical practice and related policy recommendations to address these issues. Her work advocates for and facilitates cross-disciplinary research efforts that promote socially responsible communication of social science genomics research findings. Prior projects include an ‘adversarial collaborative’ effort with social science genomics researchers to explore recent developments in Genetics and Education (AERA Open, 2019) and guest editing a Special Issue devoted to the introduction of the biosocial sciences into Education (Research in Education, 2020).

Our CRASSH research group explores the historical and present international outlook of black radicalism, and whether contemporary exponents of black radicalism are better or worse placed to perform this ‘internationalism’ in a digital age. This involves exploring the history of black radicalism, the ‘present’ of black radicalism, and its ties to other theories and movements such as anti-capitalism and Pan-Africanism. Our CRASSH research group examines the global nexus of black radical resistance to racial inequalities.

I organized and presented at a symposium at the American Educational Research Association 2018 Conference titled "Dystopian DNA”: Public Education, Genetics, and the Popular Imagination."I am co-editor of a forthcoming (November 2019) Special Issue in the journal Research in Education.

Camp Phoenix empowers low-income children to overcome the summer learning gap through joyful academic learning, enrichment, and community building in the hills of Half Moon Bay. As a co-director of camp, I oversee the communication, organization, logistics, staff, staff training, and financials of Camp Phoenix as well as camp itself with our 70+ children per session from Oakland and San Jose, California.

Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club (CUWBC) lives and breathes to race the Boat Races against our dark blue counterparts, Oxford University Women's Boat Club (OUWBC). The President leads the squad forwards in this endeavor, helping to oversee the running of the club and focusing in particular on organizing fundraising efforts and creating a high performance culture with the aid of a sports psychologist. Even beyond Cambridge years, CUWBC supports its athletes pursue their sport at elite level. Every Olympic Games since 1976 (the first year women’s races were allowed at the Olympic Regatta) has seen at least one CUWBC athlete competing. Most recently, Melissa Wilson (Blue Boat 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017) and Holly Hill (Blue Boat 2015, 2017) came fourth in a pair at the World Championships in Sarasota – a tremendous achievement for an all-Cambridge boat.
